About Work#
First, let's talk about Follow. I'm quite happy and surprised that a front-end project I participated in has been trending on GitHub almost every day this week. The top spot this week is also Follow. Being the Top 1 Contributor for this project is quite an achievement for me.
Although Follow is still in the internal testing phase, with the emergence of the recommendation mechanism, the actual number of users is increasing, and there are even instances of people paying for codes. I'm really grateful for everyone's support.
I've always enjoyed doing open source and creating products that can get closer to users. I used to dream of being able to support myself by writing open source full-time, and it seems I've taken the first step now.
With the expansion of users, there inevitably comes more work pressure. I realized that I haven't taken a break in a long time; every weekend I think about how to make it better. I always polish the details and interface design in various areas, and perhaps that's why I've received a lot of positive feedback and recognition from some UI designers. Although I'm not a professional UI Design Engineer, I do have the intention to move in that direction. It turns out I haven't lost my way.
I admit I'm a bit of a workaholic. But I'm happy about it and never tire of it. Perhaps this is the love for open source and products. I want more people to see and experience a good product.
About Livelihood#
The shop downstairs has changed hands several times in the past six months.
Business is getting harder and harder, yet there are still people who want to taste the experience of being a boss. In the end, it always ends with closing the shop.
I no longer know which shop has lasted the longest; perhaps it was a cake shop opened by a pair of freshly graduated college students last year. That couple spent every day in the shop glued to their phones playing games. Although it was a cake shop, there were no cakes for sale once you entered, day after day. Finally, one day, the bustling shop was up for rent.
Later, a bunch of elderly couples came and opened a dim sum shop, but their business was still slow, with hardly any customers. Not long after, they also closed down.
And now, I no longer know which generation this is. Renovations have started again. How long will this one last?
Meanwhile, the people around me are taking turns losing their jobs.
About Travel#
Last weekend, I went to Shanghai to attend Rust Conf. However, I actually don't know anything about Rust. But I took advantage of a colleague's ticket; if I didn't go, it would be a waste. Coincidentally, friends from Hangzhou were also planning to go to Shanghai this week. So, there were about ten people heading to Shanghai.
The night before, we went to Shanghai. I must say that hotels in Shanghai are indeed expensive; if you were to stay alone, it would be unbearable, costing about 400 a night.
