Suddenly I realized that I haven't written a life record for a long time. This article is a record and reflection of the past two weeks.
Hangzhou / Summer of Open Source#
A few days ago, I went to Hangzhou again to participate in the "Summer of Open Source" event. This is the second time I visited the AFFFiNE office. I have been to Hangzhou twice in the past two months, although each time was for a large-scale Twitter meetup. I am not someone who likes to go out, and I can say that I haven't been to many places in my life. After starting remote work and escaping the 996 work schedule, I have more time now. If there are activities nearby on weekends, I can join in the fun. Compared to the previous work schedule, where I only wanted to lie down and do nothing on weekends, I now have more vitality in my life.
On the day of my second visit to Hangzhou, it happened to be pouring rain. The rain was the heaviest when I just got off the subway. When I went out, it was still drizzling, but as I was buying food in the mall, the rain gradually became heavier. I was still looking for the way to {GH@Lakr233}'s house in the rain. When I was halfway there, it was already pouring rain. I could only take shelter from the rain outside a convenience store. My phone was almost out of battery, and I felt hopeless that I might have to spend the night outside in the rain. Little did I know that I had taken the wrong path, and my destination was only one street away from me. The rain outside was so heavy that I couldn't see the road clearly, and the water had already covered my entire foot. When I finally arrived at {GH@Lakr233}'s house, I was completely soaked. It was a terrible experience.
The next day, I attended the Summer of Open Source event. I also had the chance to experience my former colleague's Tesla. There were a lot of people at the event, and it felt like half of them were there to see the stars. Zhi Zi and Mian Bao, two big stars, were giving speeches, so I had to show my support.
I also listened to the sharing sessions of many open source experts and had some small exchanges with some of them. I found that curiosity and the desire to tinker are common traits. When encountering something of interest or facing real-life problems, we always try to trace the root cause. Even if we find out that it's not our problem, we don't stop there. Instead, we continue to explore upstream, whether it's an issue or a pull request.
Later, I also had a meetup with {TW@unixzii}, a versatile expert, and had a lively discussion about Next.js.
Life and Work#
In the blink of an eye, it has been a month since I left Shanghai. During this month, there have been certain changes in my mindset and emotions. The despair I used to feel every morning when I woke up is gone, and I no longer have any depressive feelings. After switching to remote work, my life has become more free. Apart from completing my work, I can arrange my time freely without strict constraints or constant pushing. Everyone is working with enthusiasm.
In the past half month, if I don't have anything else to do, I have been playing "The Tears of the Kingdom," trying to save Hailaru. I have already played for 100 hours, but my progress in the game is only 40%. I have to say that this game is very addictive and hard to put down. My PS5 has been collecting dust for a long time. Compared to that, "Soul Bridge" is really a terrible game.
Next month, which is June, I hope to learn a new field in my free time, whether it's Swift or blockchain. There are many talented experts around me who can do everything, so if I don't push myself, I might be left behind.
Anime and TV Shows I've Missed#
Suddenly, I realized that it has been a very long time since I watched a complete anime series. I no longer have the passion to finish a whole series in one day like I used to. Since I started working, I have less and less time, and fragmented time has led me into the abyss of short videos. I have become impatient with long videos. Now, it's time to make a change.
