It has been another half month. What noteworthy events have happened during these days?
Hackathon#
Last week, the company held an internal hackathon, which took place from:
Sep 20, 2024 00:00 GMT – Sep 27, 2024 00:00 GMT
It was just after the Mid-Autumn Festival, and it was my first time participating in any form of hackathon, also a good opportunity to interact with colleagues. All members of our group are from the Zhejiang-Hu region, which provided us with a natural communication advantage.
We spent quite a bit of time discussing what to work on in the early stages, and it wasn't until the last few days that we officially started coding.
Three days before the deadline, I went to Hangzhou and stayed at a colleague's house, starting two days of intense coding. The next day happened to be Crazy Thursday, and I went to Liangzhu to experience it. The last time I went to Liangzhu coincided with the National Day holiday, and there were almost no coders around at that time.
This time, the three members of our group started coding together, and it was indeed very intense; we needed to complete an MVP in two days.
As already hinted at on X, we are working on a Follow-related project, a Chrome extension, with the following supported features:
- Discover Trending (Leaderboard)
- Comment
- Star Timeline (Favorites Timeline)
Currently, all features are modified by injecting into the Follow Webapp, so the effect is definitely not as good as if implemented directly in Follow. However, this method is completely separate from the app, avoiding any coupling with the original project, and is also a way of exploring functionalities.
The above features are not even 1/10 of what a Chrome extension can offer. After all, this is just a small prototype, and we have already envisioned some features we need to implement in the future, which I can reveal here:
- Discover whether the websites currently being browsed have corresponding feeds in Follow, using subscribed feeds to discover the social network of users.
- Embed claimed feed comments into personal blogs, allowing for synchronized display of external comments in both the blog and Follow.
By the way, you can try it out by clicking the link below:
The Fragrant Season#
It’s that time of year again for the apple harvest, with a group of people shouting not to buy the iPhone as it keeps getting squeezed out year after year, but indeed, the "true fragrance" theorem applies. I feel the same way.
Looking at the PDD discount of 600 with a hundred billion subsidy, I was tempted. I have purchased it, initial color.
Test Driving the Model 3#
Having not driven for a long time, I test drove the Model 3. If nothing unexpected happens, then something unexpected will happen. I was so scared that my legs went weak. While making a U-turn, after reversing, I forgot to shift gears on the screen and directly pressed the accelerator, almost hitting the car behind me, nearly causing a three-car collision. Fortunately, I braked in time.
I really dislike shifting gears on the screen.
